Bought two Progresso Chicken Broth (2 lb) boxes on a buy one get one. A few days later I pull one out to cook with and twist off the top and the seal is broken.

I grab the other one and the same thing. I call publix who has had people with this issue. I am reasonably assured that perhaps the plastic ring was not broken, I didnt look, I have always depended on the inner foil seal on these kinds of packaging. Ashley at Publix tells me many people have complained and she herself opened 6 cartons before she noticed the words unscrewing cap breaks seal...

printed on the top. under the usual do not purchase if plastic tamper ring is broken. Now I have two open cartons, with a better if used by date of Nov 2016. One I will use and the other needs to be used in 14 days.

I call Progresso and they cant help me. I had an expectation that as a customer I should have been sent a coupon for another carton. Their poor packaging changes and notice of such, caused me to probably waste this product. As I dont cook with it often and will probably not before it goes bad, nor remember the date I opened it.

Wasted a good half hour or more of my time, interrupted my cooking and caused me to still have doubt as to the safety and healthiness of their product. Now I am angry as well.

Thanks Progresso. She will pass my displeasure onto upper management.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Monetary Loss: $3.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

Progresso Cons: Bad packaging.

Location: Belleview, Florida

I encountered the same problem. For years we are told do not use if the inner seal is broken and then all of a sudden the Broth Box Companies (all of them) tell you it's ok now, you don't need an inner seal. Well guess what, I'm going back to the College Inn Cans.

Suppose someone in the store unscrews the lid then puts it back on. The seal would be broken and the next customer might buy it , not noticing that the cap had already been broken.

Therefor take it home use it and get sick from it. I think it would be better if the inner seal wasn't broken the same time the lid is twisted off .

I have thrown away one not knowing if I broke the seal, or someone else had. Make me afraid to use the caryons.

Same problem today. Now I have three opened containers!!

I work for a major grocery chain and have personally experienced the same thing you did. It is poor packaging.

When these containers are stock and slammed in and out of back rooms to shelves the seal is broken.

The danger of having an opened package bought and used is a real problem. I hope these companies recognize the problem and fix the issue before a serious matter forces their hand.

You can always freeze the broth and defrost when ready to use. It will be just as good as just opened for many months.

I ran across the same thing this week. Both me and my husband agree that if you can't see that the interior in sealed, how is this safe. I plan on returning them to Publix and will not buy this product again.

Did you eat it? I just dumped it into my soup.

Both different types of Progresso broth; both with inner seal broken?? I have all this money invested in this *** soup!
